In the role of the Industrial Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the process flow of parts through all operations within the aluminum foundry by the use of time studies, cell layout, process improvements, data analysis, and work instructions. The role will also be responsible for assisting with the ISO certification.
Key Responsibilities:Control, analysis, and updating of part routings through plant data systemsEnsures and reports on process efficiencies and identification and improvement of processes that are not achieving plant goalsCompletion, documentation, and analysis of time and motion studies performed throughout the plantPlans, designs, and project manage the selection and layout of equipment within the factorySupports and helps lead the ISO certification process within the plantCreates, maintains, and improves work instructions / standard operating procedures (SOPs) for operations throughout the plantEnsures facility efficiency and workplace safetyCreate, develop, or improve systems to track and report out on plant downtime, efficiencies, time study completion rates, capacity analysis, and yearly standard updates for process routings, ideally using SQL or MS Access databases.Focus-on and utilization of data to drive all decisions.Utilize a “systems” approach, looking at all factors of the plant, when solving problems and making improvements.
Experience and Skills:Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Systems, or Manufacturing Engineering or related engineering field3-7 years of experience in the field or in a related areaExperience with Time and Motion studies and creating work instructionsExperience with ERP and Part Routing systemsExperience with standardized part costingStrong knowledge of Microsoft Applications, especially Excel, Access, and SQL Management StudioAbility to work with large amounts of data quickly and efficiently to drive to solutionsAbility to work in a fast-paced environment both independently and in multiple teamsWillingness to “push the envelope” and try new processes/systems/approaches that may be new to the factoryAbility to make independent judgements, and supporting those decisions, regarding technical issuesSelf-driven to grow professionally through training, involvement in professional organizations, continuous education, and certifications.Effective with moderate supervisionMinor in Business or MBAExperience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma, including certifications Experience and certification within Project ManagementKnowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC)Strong experience in creating, maintaining, and improving database systems (SQL or MS Access)Familiarity with the manufacturing environments, particularly high-pressure die cast or aluminum foundry environments
