If we can move boats through the water at record speeds, imagine what we can do for your career!As a IIoT/Systems Engineering Co-op, you will work collaboratively and independently with highly qualified manufacturing professionals who are responsible for the connection, collection, and analyzation of production data coming from operational equipment used to manufacture outboard and sterndrive motors for the recreational boating industry. You will become an integral member of a manufacturing team committed to delivering superior results. You'll learn how to work with a team of managers, supervisors, technicians, and production employees on the plant floor, as you own and manage assigned projects from inception to completion.You will:Connect, collect, and analyze data come from different types of operational equipmentCreate operational dashboards, data visualizations, and reporting utilize software packages like Ignition and Power BIWork with full-time team members located in multiple different operational plants, assisting with projects and analysisProgram using R and Python to create scripts for data processing and analysisUtilize SQL queries to help retrieve data stored in databases located on-site and in the cloudParticipate in regular updates with management within the different plants
In addition to a great hands-on learning experience you will also acquire the skills needed to:Effectively and quickly collect and analyze data coming from manufacturing equipmentUnderstand data storage and retrieval processes in large-scale manufacturing databasesAnalyze data and make recommendations that effectively improve process costsEffectively express your ideas, influence people, manage potentially contentious situations to a positive result and communicate with employees at all levels of an organization
Qualifications of a successful candidate:Current enrollment in a BS program with a major in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant degree with a controls/systems/analytics emphasisMinimum second semester sophomore status with 48 completed creditsAvailability to work full-time (40 or more hours per week) through a full co-op term running January to August 2019 or June to December 2019The ability to enroll in a formalized co-op Program through your universityDependable, self-motivated and engaged learnerAbility to occasionally lift up to 35 lbs.
