Under the direction of the Global Supply Chain Manger, the NEW Estimating and BOM Supervisor position manages the Estimating and BOM department by setting goals and objectives that align with the business unit strategy. This position interacts with Sales, Project Management, Design, Procurement, Engineering and Production personnel to oversee estimating the cost of projects and assists in determining the cost of the products or services being provided. The Estimating and BOM Supervisor is responsible for maintaining necessary documentation to support product manufacturing within the ERP process.

Specific duties include:

  • Oversee the estimating and BOM creation workflow and lead continuous improvement efforts to optimize the process.
  • Develop standard policies and procedures that improve the effectiveness of the Estimating and ERP (Epicor) data management process. Implement technical estimating standards and procedures and oversee the work of project estimators and ERP data management associates.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the Parts and Resource Groups information to support the ERP process, where required within the ERP information database.
  • Manage the maintenance of standard methods, ‘Bills of Materials’ (BOM’S) and ‘Routings’ for each standard product, and ensure this information resides within the ERP database to support Estimating, Production, Project Management, and Design.
  • Assist with the coordination and facilitation of the “Engineering Change Procedure” for product and/or process changes .
  • Lead the hiring and development process for direct reports as needed. Provide guidance and leadership to the members of the staff, including day to day management of workload, work hours, PTO, etc.  Complete performance evaluations and review each associate, including quarterly performance update meetings and wage adjustment recommendations.
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) preferred, but would consider equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of estimating experience in a custom manufacturing or construction environment required.
  • 2+ years of direct people management experience preferred.
  • Seating décor/millwork/casework/cabinetmaking/woodworking/laminate experience is a plus.  Experience knowing and understanding how product is put together is key.
  • Ability to coach and develop the team of estimators and routers to coordinate, expedite and facilitate efforts between sales, project management, supply chain and production to meet deadlines, budget, and completion of project estimates is key.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, drawings, safety rules, and procedure manuals essential.
  • Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence, drawings, sketches, and final plans required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other employees within and outside the organization a must.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and aggressive due dates a must.
